Driver Tips:

1. The biggest mistake I see a lot of new drivers make is racking up reverses. It is always better to take one long reverse then 2 or more short ones. If you cant get your self lined up for an obstacle properly, back away as far as possible and try again. 2. time management is key in a competition setting. It is always better to finish a course then to time out. If you find yourself struggling with a gate, it is sometimes better to take the gate penalty and move on.

3. try to always set yourself up for the next gate, many people drive one gate at a time, and get themselves into trouble trying to make it to the next one.

Setup tips:
1. tires are the only thing that touch rock. A good tire foam setup, will take you a very long way. Try to set up the tires with a slightly stiffer foam in back then in front. This allows the back to slip slightly on climbs and prevent the truck from going over backwards

2. suspension is another are that is critical in how the crawler handles. many people are concerned with how much the suspension can articulate. Anything more then 60 degrees is just asking for trouble. Having a truck that only articulates 50-60 degrees greatly increases stability, and allows the driver to "float" tires over holes in the course

3. link placement is another area that needs addressing. I like to set up the front links on my trucks so that they are parallel to the ground or angled slightly up towards the axle. This allows the front of the truck to suck down on steep climbs and effectively lower the center of gravity
